Publisher went bankrupt. Now what?

August 18th, 2012 → 7:54 pm @

One of my author-tax clients emailed me to say that her publisher has filed for bankruptcy.

On Aug 7, 2012, Intermedia Publishing Group and Larry Davis filed for Chapter 7 Bankruptcy. Chapter 7 is total liquidation of assets.

Fortunately for this author, a website was started to help authors.

https://ipgcomplaints.com/ has been helpful in keeping authors up to date on the filing and what they should do now.

This is what the author wrote to me:

I went to the link and sent a brief message. I have already received a phone call from the guy who created the link.

He gave me some very good ideas/suggestions on how to proceed.
He has known about this for some time –  worked with a lawyer and decided it was a waste of time to use a lawyer.  Says it will take years and we can all file B10 forms so our claims will be included, etc.
He has my email address and will continue to send me updates.

I’m very grateful for the creator of IPGComplaints.com. The site has been very helpful to my client.
